Promoting sonic health
MorrowSound: Sonic Health
Contributors:
Charles Morrow, William Fastenow, Jeff Aaron Bryant, Peter Kirby, and Dr. Robert Morrow
Project Overview
Sonic Health, developed by MorrowSound, proposes the use of environmental sound design in order to benefit people biologically and psychologically by improving the native audio ecology of shared spaces. Airports, hospitals, and workspaces are full of noise that cause stress, discomfort, and lost time and concentration. Sonic Health proposes a dynamic sound solution to add targeted natural sound to spaces, measure its effects, and adjust the parameters in real time. The team suggests that building sonic health into our everyday lives can shape how we work, heal, and travel. MorrowSound was recognized for their excellent problem statement and for bringing attention to a real, yet largely unrecognized, health issue.
